Responsibilities
- Stay updated on legal changes in the Cayman Islands and ensure the company complies with local regulations.
- Act as the designated Compliance Officer and MLRO for the organization and its affiliated entities.
- Manage the adherence to AML/CFT standards, ensuring effective prevention and detection of money laundering and terrorist financing activities.
- Evaluate, propose, and apply changes to compliance policies and procedures.
- Maintain the consistent application of AML/CFT policies, including customer due diligence, suspicious activity reporting, and accurate record-keeping.
- Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of AML/CFT strategies to address evolving risks and trends.
- Lead initiatives to improve compliance knowledge and training across the organization.
- Ensure compliance policies meet regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Establish systems for reporting to local regulators and maintain thorough documentation of compliance activities.
- Work closely with Group Compliance to ensure alignment with local legal and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline from a recognised university.
- Professional qualification like ACAMS, ICA or similar.
- A minimum of 5 years’ compliance experience within a professional services firm.
- Proficient in the laws and regulations related to Anti Money Laundering, Proceeds of Crime & Countering Terrorism Financing relevant to the jurisdiction.
- Experience in identifying and mitigating Money Laundering, Financing of Terrorism and other Financial Crimes.
- Knowledge of the regulatory regime in the Cayman Islands. Knowledge of other jurisdictions’ AML functions would be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of AML/CFT legal and regulatory framework.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
