We are assisting Acts of Random Kindness (ARK), who are looking for a dedicated Assistant Teacher.

The successful candidate will be a qualified and committed educator who is specifically trained and experienced in working with young people with SEND, a history of trauma, and complex behaviours, to ultimately improve literacy levels, unleash potential and contribute significantly towards a brighter future for our students.

Responsibilities will include
:
  • Teaching the literacy intervention programme to identified students
  • Planning, delivering and offering support to students on a one-to-one or small group basis and differentiating as needed
  • Identifying, assessing and tracking student progress
  • Planning and supporting with after-school activities
  • Liaising with classroom teachers, SENCO, SMT and other members of staff in Government schools
  • Supervising and chaperoning students between MER lessons, at after-school club, during field trips and other special events
  • Planning and managing a summer camp
  • Completing administrative tasks
  • Modeling and demonstrating a positive attitude and helping to support the development of a positive learning environment
  • Promoting the safeguarding of children, enforcing child protection policies, and undertaking any relevant training
  • Performing additional tasks as required
  • Participating in performance management and other professional development activities
  • Reporting to Education Manager and Director

Qualifications, experience and skills required

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject
  • Experience working with children with a variety of learning/behavioural needs
  • A high standard of reading, speaking, writing and numeracy skills are essential
  • Excellent communication, and organisational skills
  • A warm and nurturing personality is important, and the post holder must have the ability to build strong relationships with students and parents, and model respectful interaction
  • A team player with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, parents, and outside agencies
  • Confidentiality is a key requirement for this post
  • Ability to work as part of a team in supporting the day-to-day operation of the service
  • Experience working with challenging young people to improve their well-being
  • Must have own vehicle and clean driver’s license

Salary range for the position is $30,000-$40,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Statutory benefits provided.
