We are hiring for an experienced MLRO in the British Virgin Islands to join a high-performing compliance team a leading business with a strong global footprint.
This is a senior role for a compliance professional with strong regulatory knowledge, sound judgement and proven leadership experience in a regulated environment.
You’ll be proactive, commercially aware and confident working across teams, jurisdictions and senior stakeholders.
About the Role
Reporting to senior regional compliance leadership, you’ll help lead the local compliance team, oversee key regulatory obligations and support strong risk and governance practices across the business.
Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance
- Support regulatory compliance and maintain key authorisations and filings.
- Hold appointed officer responsibilities, including money laundering reporting duties where required.
- Ensure internal policies, procedures and statutory obligations are met.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Review high-risk matters, escalations, sanctions exposure and adverse media findings.
- Oversee KYC and AML processes and keep compliance frameworks up to date.
- Drive process improvements, reporting enhancements and team training.
Reporting and Documentation
- Monitor internal reporting, manage escalation workflows and maintain accurate records.
- Review compliance data and prepare clear updates for senior leadership.
Audits and Inspections
- Lead regulatory inspections and support internal audit and assurance activity.
- Conduct gap analyses and help ensure timely, accurate regulatory reporting.
Relationship Management
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support team performance and advise on regulatory and compliance risk.
People Management
- Lead, coach and develop team members in a collaborative, high-performing environment.
- Support training, performance management and workforce planning.
What You Bring
- 10 years’ experience in a senior compliance role, ideally in legal, financial or professional services.
- Strong knowledge of BVI regulatory and financial services requirements.
- Deep understanding of KYC, AML and compliance risk management.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification; CAMS or ICA is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven leadership experience and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
