Current Market Snapshot: Legal Recruitment

Despite the global economic downturn, 2023 has overall been a been quite a busy year for The Agency’s legal recruitment desk. With 2024 fast approaching, the legal recruitment market in the Cayman Islands has really hit full-throttle, with a constant flow of incoming new opportunities throughout November and December.

Funds

The funds market is currently bustling, with four law firms searching for funds lawyers at junior, mid and senior levels. Lawyers around the junior levels (up to five PQE) do not necessarily need to have existing funds experience for the available opportunities, but instead a solid corporate foundation.  Overseas lawyers who are interested in gaining Cayman experience are strongly encouraged enquire.

Corporate

There are currently two corporate roles available for lawyers between thee to five PQE, both roles offering a broad range of work with an exciting client portfolios and good future career progression opportunities.

Litigation & Insolvency

The disputes market has been busier than usual in recent months and the Agency is still working on three litigation & insolvency roles, two of which are at the junior end and one at mid-to-senior level. Candidates do not necessarily need insolvency experience but rather, solid experience in complex commercial litigation with a leading law firm.

Banking & Finance

After a quiet period for this practice area, The Agency recently received a mandate for a Banking & Finance Associate (3-5 PQE) from a highly regarded international law firm, with further mandates in the horizon for H1 2024 from other law firms. Regulatory

The Agency is working on two regulatory roles at the moment, both of which are suited for lawyers between three-to-five PQE and entail a broad spectrum of Cayman Islands financial regulatory matters.
